Come with us on a journey through the charming streets of Bamberg on our Free Walking Tour, where history, culture, and beer come together. Our tour begins at the "Centurione Statue" only a few minutes away from the "Altes Rathaus" (Old Town Hall), a fascinating middle ages house on an island in the middle of the Regnitz River. Next, we'll walk through the cobblestone pathways of the Old Town, passing by the majestic Bamberg Cathedral with its awe-inspiring architecture and rich religious heritage. Learn about the cathedral's significance for the rise of Bamberg as a bishopship since 1007, but also about the brutality of the witchhunts in the 16-hundreds. Continuing our exploration, we'll make our way to Klein Venedig (Little Venice), a quaint and picturesque quarter where colorful half-timbered houses line the riverbanks, reminiscent of the romantic canals of Venice. No visit to Bamberg is complete without indulging in its renowned beer culture, and our tour ensures you don't miss out. We'll stop by the historic Schlenkerla brewery, famous for its distinctive smoked beer, and learn about the centuries-old brewing traditions that have made Bamberg and Franconia a mecca for beer enthusiasts worldwide. A must do is also the "Neptunbrunnen" (Neptune Fountain), a Baroque fountain depicting the god of the sea surrounded by mythical sea creatures.
